Tuesday 6th of January is the Solemnity of The Epiphany of the Lord. Vigil Mass will be celebrated at 7:30pm on Monday 5th. Masses on Tuesday 6th are at 8am, 1:05pm and 7:30pm.
Confessions will be heard on Monday 5th after 8:00am Mass, from 12 noon - 12:50pm and after 7:30pm Mass.
The door pictured below shows last year's chalking on the door of Saint Saviour's Priory, Dublin. The marking above the entrance of a Church or house with blessed chalk is part of an Epiphany House Blessing which invites God to be present with those who dwell therein throughout the entire year. The inscription this year is 20+C+M+B+26. Specific prayers and the sprinkling of Holy Water also form part of this blessing.
The letters C, M and B have two meanings. They represent the initials of the Three Magi – Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar. They also abbreviate the Latin phrase, Christus mansionem benedicat “May Christ bless this house”. The + signs represent the cross, and the 20 at the beginning and the 26 at the end mark the current year.
