Bishop Ray Browne concelebrated High Mass with Fr Antony Jukes OFM and Fr David on Sunday 10th August, the liturgical celebration of the Feast of Saint Dominic.
While the Feast of Saint Dominic occurred on Friday August 8th, the feast was celebrated liturgically during High Mass on Sunday 10th last. In keeping with the centuries old tradition between the Dominican and Franciscan orders of inviting each other to preach on the feast days of their respective founders, Fr Antony of the Franciscan Friary in Killarney was the preacher at Sunday's Mass. Also representing the Franciscan community were Br Pat Lynch OFM, Guardian of Killarney Friary, and Bosnian native Br Dragan Čabraja OFM who is visiting Holy Cross for the summer months.
It was a privilege to be joined by Bishop Ray for the sacrifice of the Mass, along with Fr Tadhg Fitzgerald, Fr Padraig Walsh, Monsignor Michael Quinlan and Fr Tom Crean. Also participating were Fr Declan, Fr Gus, Fr Louis and visitors at Holy Cross Fr Sunil Lobo OP, and Br Leonard OP. Bishop Ray acknowledged the contribution of both the Dominican Choir and the five young altar servers. The choir's newly prepared Anima Christi, the Dominican Magnificat and other hymns were integral elements of a joyful liturgical celebration.
