Welcome to our church

Welcome to the homepage of the Dominican Community of Holy Cross Priory and Church. We are a community of friars and one of the 18 Priories that form the Irish Dominican Province.
Our live is simple and our ministry to the people of Tralee has remained almost unchanged since the first day the Dominicans came to Tralee in the 1200s.
Our ministry is predominantly Church based. Our Holy Father Saint Dominic founded the Order of Preachers (the Dominicans) for "Preaching and the salvation of souls". With this as the basis of our life, we live and pray in common, celebrate the Sacraments and preach the good news of the Gospel of Christ.

The motto of our Order is
"Laudare, Benedicere, Praedicare" that is "To Praise, To Bless, To Preach".

A second motto granted to the Order was that of "Veritas" (Truth) for St.Dominic firmly believed the message of Christ "the truth will set you free" - free to live, free to be a child of God.
